Money is NOT the #1 Currency!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, let’s just get real for a second. We spend a lot of time chasing money. Bigger commissions, fatter renewals, more zeros on the paycheck. And hey, nothing wrong with that—money pays the bills and keeps the lights on in Insurance Town.

But here’s the truth: money is not the #1 currency. Time is.

You can always make more money. You can’t make more time.

That’s the one thing we all get the same amount of every single day—24 hours. And once you spend it, it’s gone. No refunds, no rainchecks.

Why Time Wins

  • Money is renewable. Time? One-way ticket.
  • Time is where real value shows up—your kids, your health, your friends, your faith.
  • At the end of the road, people don’t read your net worth at your funeral. They remember how you spent your time with them.

The Trap We Fall Into

In this industry, it’s easy to trade time for money. We say yes to every client, every meeting, every late-night proposal, thinking, “If I just grind a little harder, I’ll finally have the freedom I want.”

But freedom isn’t about money in the bank. It’s about margin in your calendar.

That hit me square in the face the day I became a dad, all of a sudden the late nights, the endless grind, the “just one more email” mentality didn’t feel like freedom anymore. It felt like stealing time from the most important moments of my life.

From that day forward, I made a decision:I wanted to be there for the ball games, the bedtime stories, the moments that matter. And I realized, being rich in time is the real wealth I was chasing.

The Trap We Fall Into

In this industry (and I’ve been there), it’s easy to trade time for money. We say yes to every client, every meeting, every late-night proposal, thinking, “If I just grind a little harder, I’ll finally have the freedom I want.”

But freedom isn’t about money in the bank. It’s about margin in your calendar.

Redefining Wealth

Wealth is being able to spend your time where it matters most.

  • Watching your kid’s game instead of checking your phone.
  • Taking a walk instead of another Zoom call.
  • Having time to think, to breathe, to dream.

Money can enhance those moments, sure, but it can’t replace them.

So What Do We Do?

  • Audit your time like you audit your books. Where’s it going?
  • Protect your calendar—say “no” more often.
  • Be present. The best ROI sometimes comes from shutting the laptop and showing up for the people who matter.

Here’s the bottom line: money buys comfort, but time defines legacy.

For me, fatherhood put that lesson front and center. And it changed everything about how I live and work.

So take it from me, my friends—guard your time, spend it with intention, and invest it where it matters most.
